Lennar to serve as Presenting Sponsor for 69th JAGA Senior Amateur Championship

-Championship to be hosted at Stillwater Golf & Country Club through 2028-

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Area Golf Association today announced Lennar, one of the nation’s leading homebuilders, as its presenting sponsor for the not-for-profit organization’s oldest championship. It will now officially be called the “JAGA Senior Amateur Championship presented by Lennar.”

The three-year sponsorship agreement establishes Stillwater Golf & Country Club – Lennar’s gated 55+ active adult community – as the host for the 54-hole scratch event scheduled for May 3-5, 2026. The 2026 championship will mark the tournament’s 69th year in Northeast Florida, with Stillwater also serving as host in 2027 and 2028.

“Lennar has built a beautiful new community in the Jacksonville area, with a Bobby Weed-designed course that has quickly become popular with seniors and everyone,” said Duke Butler III, president of JAGA. “Lennar will be an ideal sponsor for the JAGA Senior Amateur Championship.”

Stillwater Golf & Country Club opened in late 2021 and the Florida layout was the first in the Jacksonville area in over a decade. The Lennar community was named Honorable Mention Development of the Year in 2023 by Golf Inc. Magazine and Sports Illustrated named Stillwater as the most innovative course design for 2022 with environmentally friendly features.”

“Lennar is proud to sponsor the JAGA Senior Amateur Championship and support an organization that shares our commitment to excellence, community, and tradition,” said Randy Thrash, Lennar’s Jacksonville Division President. “We believe partnerships like this strengthen the connections that make Northeast Florida such a great place to live and play.”

JAGA’s Vice President of Tournaments, Jeff Johnstone, negotiated the sponsorship agreement which will allow Lennar to display signage and distribute promotional material about their Stillwater community around the championship.

The JAGA Senior Amateur Championship was first played in 1958 and was won earlier this year by Brent Dietz at Marsh Landing Country Club. Dietz rallied on the back nine to edge David Anthony by a stroke. The championship targets golfers who are 50+ in age and reside primarily in Northeast Florida.
