The competition is open to amateurs and professionals, male and female, with no age restriction.
At least one team member must be a member/pro at a JAGA member club or affiliated with one in the case of public facilities, i.e. plays the course on a regular basis.

All entrants in the Net competitions must have a current handicap index from a USGA Handicap Certified and Licensed Club.

Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the championship) by the Tournament Committee. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct.

Entry fee per player is $99, which includes lunch, beverage coupon, range balls, golf and cart, plus Awards Ceremony.


The competition will be 18 holes, better ball of two, held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Marsh Landing Country Club, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., with a shotgun start beginning at 1:00 p.m. Registration and lunch will be in the clubhouse and open at 11 a.m. An Awards program will follow play in the clubhouse.

The two-person better-ball format calls for each partner to play his own ball, with the better score of the pair on each hole being recorded as the team score. Entrants choose their respective flight (see below), with established handicaps adjusted based on USGA handicap system and course tee ratings (does not apply to Scratch flight). The Scratch flight will be a gross only competition, with the other flights offering gross and net prizes.

There will be three or four flights, depending on the number of team entries, with gross and net competitions in all flights except JAGA 1. Age is not a factor with respect to any flight.

______JAGA 2 / LADIES (approximately 5,100 yards)
______JAGA 3 and JAGA 4 / MEN (options to play tees of 6,100, 5,900 or 5,500 yards)

The goal is to have a minimum of eight teams in both JAGA 3 and JAGA 4. The two flights will be divided evenly, with JAGA 3 comprised of the one-half of team entries with the lowest combined indexes and JAGA 4 comprised of the other half with the highest combined indexes.

The difference between partner handicap indexes may not exceed 10. (See “Handicaps” below for more detail).

JAGA 3 and 4 partners may compete from different tees. (See “Handicap Adjustments” below for more detail).


In the Net competition in JAGA 2, 3, 4, 100% of handicap indexes will be allocated.

Only one team member may have an FSGA Type III index to compete in the net competitions.

The handicap index differential for team partners may not exceed 10 strokes. Entries from teams with handicap differentials greater than 10 will be accepted but the higher handicap player’s index will be reduced to equal a 10-shot differential based on his partner’s index. Example: Player A is a 5 and Player B is an 18. Player B will be reduced to 15.

An equitable stroke-adjustment method based on course ratings will be used when two partners do not play from the same set of tees. The amount of the adjustment will be determined off the player playing from the longer tees.


Flight winners will be based on the lowest scores for 18 holes. Ties for all places will first be decided based on the lowest back nine score (10-18), then by scores of the lowest last six holes (13-18), then by the lowest scores of the last three holes (16-18), then by a coin flip by the Committee.


All players shall apply on JAGA forms obtained via the JAGA website (www.jaxareagolf.org). An entry fee of $99 per player shall accompany the entry form (Credit Card/PayPal or check), with all pertinent information supplied. All entries must be received by the closing date of March 12, 2018. The maximum number of team entries accepted will be 40 (80 players).

In the event of withdrawal, an entry fee will be refunded if the Tournament Chairman is notified before the March 12th closing date, less a $25 administrative fee. Entry fees for those who withdraw after the entry closing date will be refunded only in the event of injury, illness or personal emergency, at the discretion of the Tournament Chairman, and be subject to a $50 administrative fee. No refunds will be made after the competition has begun.

In JAGA 1 there will be Gross prizes only. In JAGA 2, 3 and 4 prizes will be awarded to both Gross and Net competition winners. Approximately one-third of the field will receive Marsh Landing CC pro shop gift certificates, redeemable after the Awards Program concludes.

Tournament participants are eligible to play a practice round at Marsh Landing CC on March 13-18 for a fee of $62.00. Contact the Marsh Landing golf shop and reference the JAGA Spring Four-Ball to make a tee time (904-285-6459).

Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf as approved by the U.S.G.A. and modified by the Local Rules. Questions will be settled by the Tournament Committee, whose decision will be final. The competition shall be deemed to have closed when all prizes have been awarded.

Please note Rule 3-3 is to be followed precisely. If the player is in doubt as to the proper procedure during play and wishes to play a second ball, before returning one’s score, report the situation to the Committee and they will render a final decision.

+ Only golf equipment approved by the U.S.G.A. will be allowed.
+ Only brands of balls on the most current U.S.G.A. list of conforming golf balls may be used.
