“JAGA is proud to support the futures of these seven young women and men through the Scholarship Trust,” said Scholarship Trust chairman KEN HICKS of Deerwood Country Club. “The lineup of applicants was incredibly impressive, which made the process all the more challenging. We know great things are in store for these young people. We owe a sincere thank you to the JAGA member clubs and other JAGA supporters whose contributions made tonight’s announcements possible.”
This year there are 28 scholars who are receiving $1,000 per semester, for a total of eight semesters from JAGA. Since the JAGA Scholarship Trust was formed in 1974, JAGA has awarded approximately $1.7 million to more than 300 deserving young students. The Trust is a 501 (c)(3) Not for Profit organization.
Applicants for scholarships must be sons, daughters or grandchildren of a member of a JAGA member club or an employee of a member club who resides in JAGA’s North Florida region. Each applicant is sponsored by a JAGA Director.
JAGA scholarship recipients have gone on to successful careers as golf course superintendents, golf club managers, PGA TOUR players, PGA golf professionals and other careers both inside and outside the golf industry. Funds to support the Scholarship Trust are generated by JAGA member clubs and contributors to the scholarship fund.
Entities and individuals who are interested in making contributions to the Scholarship Trust may do so by contacting Ken Hicks or any JAGA director from a JAGA-Member Club. JAGA welcomes all contributions, and wants all donors to know that Trustees of the fund are volunteers and all monies go directly to the fund.
